Jack and I…. what started from friendship grew into something that I thought could only happen to other people….

We met when we were both traveling. I was traveling on business and he was traveling back home. We hit if off right away, and from that simple conversation our friendship grew quickly.

Jack had come to Round Rock for a job interview that he was eventually hired for. Who would have thought that his new job would only be about five miles from where I lived. After he moved to Round Rock, as one of his first friends in town, I was able to show him around town. Over the next few months, our friendship grew and we both knew that our relationship was taking a new direction. Fast forward to one and 1/2 years later. We are still together, very happy and happy to say we are now engaged.

Our Engagement….

A memory that I will never forget and I am sure the same for Jack. When we travel long distance by car, we usually stop on our way out and get a soda and some Cracker Jacks. That is our favorite thing to get. Who doesn’t like Cracker Jacks? One Saturday morning, we were headed out toward Canton and we stop to get our soda. Jack already had the cracker Jacks. So after we got our drinks we start off again on our trip. He hands me the box of Cracker Jacks and I open them and offer some to him. He declined and thought…hmm..thats weird. Because he always wants some when we eat these. So, I go ahead and start to eat some, then I saw the “Surprise”. I love getting these. Even though they are always some corny joke or some kind of President pencil topper. Not the fun toys we use to get as kids. I pull it out and say, “I got the prize!” but this time….it felt different. I didn’t think much about it, but thought to myself, wouldn’t it be funny if it was a toy ring? Jack and I have been talking about our future together and I always said, I would be happy with a Cracker Jack Ring (They use to have those as the surprise when I was a kid). I open the surprise and I was speechless. It was a ring from Jack. Right then he proposed to me.  Between the shock, excitement, crying…I said YES. We both were crying at this point. It was one of our happiest moments ever.  Whats funny, I didn’t even know the box had been opened, he was so good at fixing the box, including the prize  : )

No Date has been set yet…we are still talking about that. We both have daughters that will be graduating in May and June. We are waiting for that milestone to happen and hopefully get them off to college in the fall. Then….we will go from there.
